No major news about the ride to the airport. Usual traffic - usual time - great drivers (thanks mom & dad). We made it to JFK in plenty of time and made a new friend right off the bat. A young lady from (of all places) Hackensack NJ was on our flights on her way to see friends in Tanzania. She will also be on some of our return flights and we promised to share stories & pictures.
Hopefully her first night was as wonderful as ours.
Our driver met us at the airport waving his card at us while Sue (me) continued to check everyone's names out.(Why would anyone be waving at us - are we that obvious!?)
Paul had the hat & tags on our luggage from the company we booked through so it was a dead giveaway who we were. I hope we spot the animals as easily as we were spotted!
Off to the House of Waine - Karen Blixen's Estate of Out of Africa Fame.
Our room is beautiful and the shower and bath much needed after 17 hours of flights.
We came to the dining room for dinner where we were treated to a bottle of sparking wine with our dinner. Dinner was delicious and then a surprise for dessert. A chocolate cake with Happy Birathday Sue on it. (yes i cried again!). We shared the cake with everyone in the room and made more new friends.
Betty and Margaret from Melbourne - self proclaimed happy widows - told us all about their past three weeks on safari (and how the sports bras will be very handy on the game drives)
The staff here has treated us like gold and we would gladly recommend anyone lucky enough to come to Nairobi to either start or finish their trip here.
Off to bed now - the fun begins at 5 am when we start the safari part of our trip.
Since I don't know how often I'll be able to post - Congratulations to all the 8th grade students at Black River Middle School. I'll miss all of you next year.

hey guys i know i talked to you when you got there but its sooo nice to know that you are having such a wonderful time and i hope it continues.
