Lewa Downs - Wilderness Trails

hi everyone - Sue here. (Paul told me to say that but you can probably tell it's me by the correct spelling.) Three more days in heaven. Wilderness Trails is wonderful. We have our own bungalow complete with flush toilet and hot showers. On arrival we were given a tour of the grounds and then off for a short game drive before dinner. Saw lots of animals - black & white rhinos - which we hadn't seen before, and lots of birds for Paul. I think he's over 110 now. After another wonderful meal it was off to bed. 6:30am tea time and we're back in the rovers to see some more animals. The photos that Paul is getting is almost as amazing as being here. Mwangi is our driver/spotter and is determined to find us a cheetah. Silas and Karmushu are our Maasi hosts here & have been explaining a lot to us about their culture. We went on horseback the next morning for a game drive and were surprised by a breakfast out under the acadia trees. Walked back to the lodge and relaxed in the pool in the afternoon. Another game drive before dinner - Alas - no cheetahs. More food. Pants are getting tight. No losing weight on this trip. Games and talks around the fireplace and off to bed. Last day here and another try for cheetahs. No luck, however a young male lion and his mate made our morning by strolling near us on their way to the marshes. Lots of babies. Relaxing again this afternoon. Paul went on a bird walk and I wrote in my journal. A short horseback safari and then back for dinner. Bed early tonight because tomorrow is our big journey. A walking safari with a samburu camel herder and sleeping out under the stars for two nights. I hope I can keep up with the camels. I don't want to ride the whole way.
